Manang’s Fried Chicken had a stall  in the Ateneo Campus this week and I say it was a HIT! I did not miss the chance to taste this chicken which I’ve heard is a serious competition of Bonchon. It was gooodd! My friend had it for lunch for 3 straight days!   Who wouldn’t be happy for the double-fried crispy and tasty chicken wings? Though, I find the chicken meat a little drier compared to Bonchon (but hey, I’m not complaining!). You can choose your own glaze: original, mild spicy, and extra hot. I like mine hotttt! I hope they return to the campus soon! :)

When we were in Macau, one of our must-eats was the Portugese Egg Tart. I can still recall how we enjoyed the warm and crusty egg tart  while we sat on one of the benches along the road going to St. Paul’s Church.  I’ve always been an egg tart/pie fan, so I am always on a look-out for a good egg tart/pie. And here in Manila, I’ve always heard of Lord Stow’s egg tart (and I just learned that the store is originally from Macau!). But since their stores are no where near where I reside, having a taste of this egg tart might wait. But lo and behold! I saw a Lord Stow’s stall at the food court in Trinoma! I think I paused for a few seconds at the enclosed glass shelf where the egg tarts are kept warm (sorry, I don’t know how it is called, hehehe). Before I took a bite, I tried to imagine how it should taste based on what we had from Macau. And yes, it has the same crust and taste. I’m so happy!

Mango Tree Bistro

We had a send-off dinner for our friend at the Mango Tree Bistro. We just decided to try this place, without any idea what to expect. And we’re glad we did! We enjoyed everything that we ordered: Panang Gai (Chicken Fillet in Red Curry Sauce), Talay Prik Thai Dum ( Stir fried mixed seafood with black pepper sauce), Phad Thai Jay (Stir fried noodles with mixed vegetables and tofu in Phad Thai sauce),  Khaopad Goong (Stir fried rice with vegetables), Khao Pad Ka Na Pla Khem (Fried rice with salted fish and kale). Of course, there’s always room for desserts: Mango Cheesecake, Tum Tim Grab and Sakoo Nam Ka-ti. Their Thai Iced Tea and Lemongrass Iced Tea are good too!

Gosh, I can’t wait to visit Thailand soon!

Foodie events

Two of my favorite food bloggers will be coming up with exciting events for all food lovers like me. And I’m dying yo attend both events!

Dessert Comes First’s (DCF) Food Photography Workshop. I really want to learn more about food photography and this event is hard to miss! The only disadvantage is only 20 30 slots will be available!  Let’s see if my friend and I can get our slots! :)

Our Awesome Planet’s (OAP) Ultimate Taste Test 6. I wasn’t able to get tickets last year so hopefully this year I will able to join. I have a problem though: I need someone to go with me. hahaha.

Stacy’s

My friend and I were supposed to have an early dinner at Bannaple. While on the road she suddenly took the U-turn slot when she recalled this new place that she wanted she show me.  She said I will love this place.  The moment I saw Stacy, I think my eyes glistened. I looked at my friend and we were like kids jumping as we entered the place.  The color and ambiance of the place is very welcoming. Of course we noticed that the aprons of the staff, table clothes and chairs we’re from Cath Kidston (we both love Cath Kidston!). They have a simple menu. I ordered their Homebaked Chicken Parmesan which is OK for me (I still prefer Bannaple’s), but loved their Sansrival.  Kids will love this place! :)

You can see their menu (and a review) from OAP
